Day 3 - "Sunny" Spain?

Madrid

A bit of a shock today, we had expected the warm weather from yesterday to continue but Madrid did a "Melbourne" on us and we woke to a cool & windy day. Apparently we can expect this for the next few days, which isn't such a bad thing as it's much easier sightseeing weather.

We started with a "traditional" breakfast of churros (which to be truthful weren't that tasty), then went walking until we found ourselves at the Parque del Retiro, 300 plus acres of gardens, lake, statues etc. at one end of the city, which was very quiet.

We had read that it was best to visit the Museo del Prado at lunch time, and after seeing the bus loads and queues of people there in the morning we took this to be good advice, so after the park we had a quick lunch then went to tackle this enormous museum, which was pretty much all paintings.

The crowds in the museum were OK for a while, but of course large groups of school children arrived after lunch, though it wasn't too hard to keep out of their way.

See the reflection? Such photographic skill!
